Royal Signals Museum
Exciting place to visit: the museum is on an active Army base and you have to sign in, have your photo taken
and carry your photo id with you - quite fun. The museum tells the story of army communications from chaps running
from A to B with messages, through heliographs, Morse Code and on to today's digital equipment.
A group of specialist signallers was first set up in 1870 within the Royal Engineers and the Royal Signals per se established in 1920. There's lots of communications kit to look at and some vehicles used by the Royal Signals - including a pink SAS-customised Land Rover.
