Old SarumIt's a 45 minute walk to Old Sarum from Salisbury city centre. Head north along the river, cross to the right bank
when you get to the fire station and keep going till you see it. It's a bit of a climb but worth it. It's not
just an iron age hill fort with a grassy top.
On the top are the remains of a Norman castle - William the Conqueror held court here - and the foundations of a small cathedral. If you don't fancy the long walk there's a car park almost at the top. Worth a visit. |map| |next attraction| |
