Gilbert White's House & GardenGilbert White was an 18th century country gentleman who studied flora and fauna long before it was fashionable.
His book, The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne, became a best seller and has been in print ever since.
Gilbert White's house is a comfortable gentleman's residence, now a museum which not only tells his story but also that of Captain Oates and Scott's ill-fated Antarctic expedition. The garden is charming. Very nice tea room. |map| |nearby attraction| |
