East Pool MineThere's a magnificent beam engine that used to pump water from the mine. It's not working but it's in great condition.
A short film in a posh theatre tells of Cornish mining and miners and there are other exhibits and bits of kit to look at.
Across the road there's an engine (pictured) that does run, if powered by electricity. It used to haul miners the 1,500 feet up and down the mine. Not part of this site, but South Crofty next door is due to reopen in 2012 thanks to the soaring tin price. |map| |nearby attraction| |
