Charlestown Shipwreck & Heritage CentreIf you like maritime heritage you'll love this eclectic collection of stuff gathered from shipwrecks.
Also exhibits about the china clay trade, the Titanic, the Mary Rose, the Coastguards, deep sea diving and,
amongst many others, the history of gas as used in the home - the inventor of gas lighting lived in Redruth.
Charlestown was a port dedicated to the export of china clay and the museum is housed in the quayside buildings from which the clay was loaded onto ships. There are usually a couple of large sailing ships moored in the harbour. |map| |nearby attraction| |
